We are looking for individuals ready to take on challenges and responsibilities within our Columbus, NE facilities. We will provide you a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience at our two processing facilities (wet milling and dry grind) as well as our Co-generation facility.
Potential assignments may include, but are not limited to:
Job Grade: H09
Repair and adjust production equipment to produce parts which conform to quality specifications, at specified output rates. Routinely troubleshoot equipment including dismantling and reassembling machine components. Perform changeovers, line clearance and cleaning. Work as a team with peers for maximum effectiveness in assigned tasks to maintain a production rate equal to or greater than the established standards. Responsible for product quality inspections, operating equipment, raw material/finished goods movement, and cleaning/sanitizing. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.

2. Communicate on a daily basis with prior and post shift associates regarding technical and other pertinent issues.
3. Set-up machines per established procedures, to manufacture product which conforms to quality specifications, at the rated output.
4. Repair, adjust and troubleshoot machinery including dismantling, replacement of machine components and reassembling.
5. Work with technical support until machine issue is resolved.
6. Continually monitor operations for product quality and equipment performance, including QC lot acceptance rate.
7. Monitor process parameters and take appropriate action.
8. Perform quality inspections and quality monitoring.
9. Record accurate inspection and production data as required.
10. Maintain equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedule.
11.Perform all product changeovers.
12. Perform changeover of all modules, including camera vision system.
13. Keep equipment supplied with components and material necessary to sustain continuous operation, including placement of finished components into appropriate locations.
14. Assign associates to alternate tasks as needed. Instruct associates on proper job methods and follow-up to be certain the instructions are understood and followed.
15. Assist technical staff on machine modifications/testing, equipment validations.
16. Responsible to contribute to the continuous improvement of the process.
17. Other duties as assigned.
Job Group – JG1
Maintains production equipment. Duties will include assisting with smaller scale engineering projects and other continuous improvement activities. Installs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts all equipment and systems throughout the facility. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to speak, read and write English. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function.
Support implementation of process improvements in the area of mechanical & electrical systems, programming, and Vision Systems. Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of machinery, pneumatics, electric motors, variable speed drives and servo systems Performs Preventative & predictive maintenance as assigned. Maintenance and repair of Programmable Logic Controllers. Maintenance and repair of Robotics. Maintenance and repair of Industrial networks. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment within established standards and requirements. Responsible for spare parts inventory for machines and equipment. Will instruct machine operators on proper methods of operation, preventative maintenance, and safety to assure quality and quantity of parts. Acts as a leader, coach, and team builder to fellow associates. Duties may require correction of problems during off-shifts on a call-up basis. Update Quality System documents as necessary. Responsible for project work as assigned by the Engineering Coordinator/ Product Line Coordinator in the realms of electrical, mechanical, and systems of new and existing equipment. Responsible for assisting manufacturing Setups with manufacturing floor maintenance issues as necessary, as well as mentoring the manufacturing Setups in trouble shooting methods and techniques of manufacturing processes and equipment. Responsible in assisting with production scheduling.

Responsible for assisting manufacturing Global Technicians with manufacturing floor maintenance issues as necessary, as well as mentoring the manufacturing Global Technicians in trouble shooting methods and techniques of manufacturing processes and equipment. Support the Controls Coordinator & Process Engineers in implementation of process improvements in the area of mechanical & electrical systems, programming, and Vision Systems. Electrical and Pneumatic Machine Design and programming. Perform new equipment installation as directed. Support Plant initiatives in Vision Inspection technology and implementation. Coordinate Continuous Improvement efforts with Process Engineers to enhance processes. Technical development of the manufacturing Global Technicians. Project management for medium or smaller projects Execute IOQ validation protocols for Controls Systems and Vision Systems, and new equipment installations and process improvements as directed. Assist in development of machine settings and validated parameters for equipment. Assist in identifying future and current machine component and system risks. Continuously learn and keep abreast of new developments in technology in the Controls, Vision, and Process Monitoring industry. Assist in establishing plant wide controls standards. Other duties as assigned.
New BD state of the art injection molding facility starting up in Columbus, NE to manufacture medical devices. BD has a number of injection molding sites located worldwide.
