Position Overview:

The Maintenance Manager is a critical member of the site leadership team and is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the plant and mobile equipment as well as the technical direction of the Maintenance Staff. It is also responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect, assuring the safety, quality and quantity of product produced.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assures the safe execution of all maintenance and utility activities. Demands that all site activities are conducted following all safety procedures, champions safety as the first consideration of all employees/contractors and promotes a safe work environment through own behavior.
  • Maintains site and assets to meet regulatory guidelines e.g. MSHA, OSHA, and EPA.
  • Coordinates major maintenance and project requirements with production and engineering to include major downtime activities, downtime periods and supports the effort to identify opportunities and develop the Plant’s Capital Budget.
  • Increase overall production reliability and profits through improved operations.
  • Coordinate multiple departments R&M expenses and budgets.
  • Optimizes costs through effective budget planning and management; a cost effective approach toward asset management and minimizing loss and waste.
  • Optimizes the availability and safe operation of production assets through appropriate predictive and preventative maintenance and safe and effective execution of corrective maintenance and projects.
  • Follow and set preventative maintenance guidelines and schedules.
  • Sets and evaluates departmental goals and objectives through a collaborative effort with maintenance department and site Production Managers.
  • Ability to collect precise and timely data used to pinpoint problem areas.
  • Conducts special studies as assigned or self-initiated to improve departmental services, equipment reliability and facility operations or satisfy external requirements.
  • Manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) by ensuring routine preventive maintenance and non-routine repair and subcontractor repair actions are documented using work order generation and entry. Enter new or replacement equipment ID’s and maintenance schedules in the CMMS database to generate work order entry and completion.
  • Train maintenance staff on effective maintenance practices, including effective use of the computerized maintenance management system, problem solving tools, risk and failure analysis, maintenance scheduling and analysis of maintenance related data and equipment histories.
  • Manage and evaluate the Maintenance staff including but not limited to performance management, training, employee improvement and employee development plans, etc.
  • Provides leadership to purchasing on material management best practice, process improvement and day to day execution of supplies for operation.
  • Ensure that all work instructions and quality standards are met to maintain the plant’s ISO certifications.
