A.            Education Level:  Bachelor of Science Degree
B.            Certification or Licensure:  Nebraska Teaching Certificate.   Library-Media Endorsement.
C.            Experience Desired:  Experience in classroom teaching and library experience preferred.

REPORTS TO:
Superintendent, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Executive Director of Technology, and Building Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Multi-Media/Technology Specialist promotes the use of technologies to support student achievement in the preK-4 classroom. This specialist provides leadership, staff development, and instructional support to all instructional and administrative staff.  This position trains and supports both certified and non-certificated staff in the use of technology to supplement communication and instruction.  Cultivates appreciation for a variety of media experiences by promoting literacy and enjoyment of reading, viewing, and listening.

Technology Functions

 

  1. Fosters the development of information finding, analyzing and problem-solving skills to support investigations, encouraging users to become skilled creators of information and ideas by:
    1. Demonstrate knowledge of the process and strategies used in implementing instructional technology plans.
    2. Demonstrate knowledge of new computer, video, communication, web-based technologies, curriculum design, and working knowledge of instructional design and assessments.
    3. Serving as the technology leader in the building.
    4. Modeling instructional strategies in the integration of technology with curriculum.
    5. Troubleshooting basic technology problems at the school level and part of district implementation team.
    6. Collaborating with teachers in utilizing technology and information resources.
    7. Help students develop cognitive strategies for selecting, retrieving, analyzing, evaluating, synthesizing, creating, and communicating information.
    8. Providing instruction integrating information literacy standards into curriculum and technology for large and small groups or individuals.

  

Library Media Functions

 

  1. Establishes and coordinates efficient systems to enhance the use of information resources and administration of the library media center by:

       a.     Creating and implementing procedures for library media center operations which may include, but are not limited to: selection, acquisition, cataloging, and processing.

  1. Providing access to, and management of, library media materials, online resources and equipment.
  2. Providing services to students and teachers including circulation, reference, copyright information, and technological applications in the media center.
  3. Creating and implementing procedures for library media center operations which may include, but are not limited to: access, student and teacher use, services, and facilities.
  4. Scheduling the library media facilities for instruction and supervising student use.
  5. Assisting in the selection, assignment, and supervision of classified media staff and volunteers.
  6. Promoting the resources and services of the library media program.
  7. Maintaining library circulation system to include cataloging and inventory of library materials, and all necessary reports.

  

District Instructional Partner

 

1.     Provides leadership, instruction, and consultation assistance in the use of leading edge instruction and information technology by:

 

  1. Participating as a learner in district-wide meetings, professional development, and committees.
  2. Providing staff development in the areas of information literacy and technology integration.
  3. Interpreting the district policies affecting the library media program including selection, collection development, and copyright.
  4. Maintaining working relationship with district technology staff.
  5. Fulfilling other duties as assigned by the building principal.
  6. Maintains a flexible instructional schedule that ensures integrated learning opportunities.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with staff, students, and the community.
  8. Demonstrate effective time management, organizational skills, and prioritization of work to meet the needs of the users.
