Job Title: DESTINATION IMAGINATION COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Director of Curriculum

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Extra Duty Coaching Position

  • Recruit team managers
    • Ensure team managers get properly registered (background checks, code of conduct)
    • Ensure team managers get team manager training through Nebraska DI
  • Support Team Managers with mentorship, regular check-ins, and reminders about upcoming Regional, Affiliate, and Global deadlines, special events, training, DI news, and rule updates
  • Recruit participants and sets up practice schedules
    • School announcements
    • Parent/student informational meetings
    • Informational video
  • Create and distribute participant registration forms and participation agreements
  • Form teams of 2-7 participants according to grade level and interests
  • Register teams with DI headquarters and Nebraska DI
    • Manages a budget (through curriculum office due to HAL funding)
    • Purchase team numbers for each team online and working with curriculum assistant to create a PO and get invoice paid
    • Assign each team a team manager and a team number
    • Input participant information into the online DI Resources Page
    • Distribute challenge documents to teams and team managers
  • Register teams for tournaments
    • Register teams online
    • Distribute and collect required parental consent forms
  • Recruit and register at least one volunteer appraiser for each team (each team is required to provide at least 1 volunteer appraiser for tournaments)
    • Work with appraiser volunteers to complete background checks
    • Work with appraisers to ensure they receive proper training
    • Arrange lodging for appraisers at away tournaments
  • Organize transportation of students and trailer to tournaments
  • Coordinate fundraising efforts for the DI program
  • Acquire needed supplies for teams
  • Stock and maintain the two DI trailers (one is supply storage, the other is storage for teams creations)
  • Collaborate with NE DI board to host the Regional tournament (if happening in Columbus)
  • Organize special events such as Instant Challenge Workshop and Parent Showcase
  • Liaison between Nebraska DI and the schools
  • Regularly communicate with parents and participants to educate them about the DI program and with reminders about fundraisers, practices, special events, and tournament deadlines and details.
  • Recruit judges for competition
  • Celebrate and recognize team achievements
