How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the QA Inspector Level I position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will inspect, evaluate, organize, and weigh nonagricultural raw materials using precision measuring instruments and complex testing equipment. Additionally, you will:
- Perform Nondestructive examination (NDE) under the guidance of a certified level II on material using methods including visual, magnetic particle and ultrasonic shearwave testing
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of utility products to ensure the quality of manufactured and purchased products conform to customer specifications
- Document findings on Inspection Reports found during inspections
- Communicate inspection defects and other issues to QA Manager, QA lead and Shift Supervisor
- Discuss and document root causes as well as corrective actions on inspection reports
- Observe and document material abnormalities
- Coordinate/prepare certification & material reports for customers & authentication authorities
- Responsible for generating and maintaining NDE reports and records
- Report and analyze test results on hard files and spreadsheets
- Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures
What it takes
Required Qualifications
- Able to be Certified internally as ASNT-Level I in UT Shearwave, MT and VT within 90 days
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 inspection criteria
- Ability to accurately use tape measure, thread gauges, micrometer, protractor, and dial calipers
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- The ability to accurately read and interpret shop blueprints
- The ability to stand/walk for up to 80% of the shift
- The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
- Associates of Applied Science in NDT
- Current certification or the ability to re-certify to ASNT as a level II UT, MT and VT
- Two years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- One year of previous experience in a quality control or related position
- A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
